7 Days Kigali Adventure

This seven days around Kigali tour will give you enough time to go trek the adventurous Mountain Gorillas in the Volcanoes N.P, visit the Grave of the great primatologist Dr. Diana Fossey, the Ethnographic National Museum of Butare, track Chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest, Nature walks and hiking, Birding and Visit the famous Genocide memorial.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will receive your car rental and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Destination: Volcanoes National Park

Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge / La Palme / Hotel Muhabura

Day 02: Mountain gorilla tracking

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing from the park ranger. You will be allocated a gorilla group for trekking. More often most guests prefer certain groups depending on their closeness from starting point of the hike or the size of the gorilla family. In the evening, you will be treated to the rich cultural songs and dance from the Banyarwanda Intore Dancers.

Day 3: Visit Dian Fossey’s Grave

Shortly after the early morning breakfast; embark on a hike to the Dian Fossey Research centre and Grave Yard. Here is where famous primatologist Dr. Dian Fossey spent close to two decades habituating, studying and conserving the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Return for lunch at your lodge before transferring to Huye.

Day 4: Visit the Ethnographic National Museum – Butare

After delicious morning breakfast, pay a visit to the national museum for more in-depth exposure to Rwandan history, culture, and art crafts. Relax at Hotel Ibis for your lunch before proceeding to Nyungwe Forest National park on a scenic drive of the countryside.

Day 05: Chimpanzee trekking

This day enjoy the morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for briefing on tracking etiquette from the park warden. At 8.30 am you will begin the hike into the lush tropical rain forest. The forest is endowed with abundant mammals and forest birds. Big troops of Angola colobus monkeys and chimpanzees are a big spectacle in this montane rainforest, spotting the chimpanzees you spend an hour in their presences. It’s a long day of tracking after you will relax at your lodge

Day 6: Nature walks and hiking

This you will spend it on a nature walk adventure and hiking through the tea plantations, it’s a bird rewarding trail and enjoying the natural breath taking. Drive back to Kigali city en-route visit the Nyanza King’s palace.

Accommodation: Overnight stay at Hotel Serena / Hotel Mille Colline

Day 7: visit Genocide Memorial

The ending day after breakfast, take Kigali city tour to Kigali genocide, the local market and Inema Arts center, and evening drive to Kigali airport for outbound flight.
