Lots of animals and birds call Murchison falls National Park their permanent home, to mention but a few; cape Buffalos, Elephants, Warthogs, Lions, Hyenas, Leopards, hippos, Jackals, Nile crocodiles, Jackson’s hartebeests, Oribi, Uganda Kobs, Crested porcupines, Giraffes, and good birding opportunity as the park harbors over 350 bird species, like “The Shoebill”, Ground horn bill, Secretary bird, Eagle Owl, Crested Crane, Stork birds, African fish Eagle, Among many.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and then Top of the falls. 

Start your drive as early as 06:30hrs, we depart for Murchison falls national park escaping from the congested traffic of Kampala’s early morning rush hours, passing through small towns seeing children going to school, local people going for work while others preparing their day today roadside businesses.

Our first stopover target is the Zziwa rhino sanctuary; here we will have a guided walk through the 70sqkm sanctuary to see the endangered rhinos along with other wildlife such as Bushbucks, Kobs, Monkeys, the sanctuary has had a very successful breeding program offering us a chance to contribute to conservation efforts by paying to track these endangered rhinos in their wild. After this beautiful exercise, we will drive to kabalega dinner for a hot lunch before entering the largest protected area in Uganda.

We will continue our drive to the top of the might Murchison falls, the heart of this Uganda’s largest park for the enchanted and thundering experience. A place of its own, the mighty Nile river forces its self through a narrow rock just 7meters wide making thunderous water of 30meters down. Later check into our Lodge.

Day 2: Explore magnificent Game in this National Park and Boat Cruise to the bottom of the falls

An early start in look for the big game; like lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, hyenas, warthogs, jackals, numerous antelope species, the leopard on a lucky day, different birds species, incredible land escape that come out in the morning for breakfast. All Game seems active at this time of the day having survived through the night as seen coming out of their hidings.

After our hot lunch we set off for a boat safari on the famous Nile river, a great opportunity of seeing animals coming to draw water from the river like; elephants, buffaloes, Nile crocodiles, Hippos and interesting birds like the king fisher’s, bee-eaters, monitor lizards rounding to what I call a water safari. Enjoy the evening game drive as you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Budongo eco-lodge

An early depart to look for Predators are more active during this time, increasing our chances of seeing what we have missed the previous day or meeting big cats feeding on their prey, herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Jackson’s hartebeest, waterbucks, oribi, warthogs, and hyenas are very visible at about this time of the morning offering a detailed game drive with no pushing factors.

Cross the river and break off for lunch at Red chili Camp before driving south to Budongo forest eco-lodge, check-in with chances of evening nature walk-in rain forest.

Day 4: Morning Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest and Departure

After your breakfast, meet your Chimpanzee guide for briefing, equipped with enough drinking water and rain gear; enter the rain forest in search of our closest cousins, the chimpanzees.

You will be strictly allowed to spend one hour upon meeting the chimpanzees, take as many pictures as you can as you observe the instructions from the ranger guide, return to the reception and check out before driving off for Kampala or Entebbe to take your late flight or overnight, with lunch on the way.
